Now thats Teamwork

With the Albion 7 a side Tournament fast approaching, the grass on the pitch in Ballinadee was on the long side. After it was cut there was a lot of loose grass making the pitch unplayable. Armed with rakes a group of players set about gathering up the grass.

HAYES PAYS TO NAME STAND AFTER HIMSELF

JP Hayes has, once again, caused a stir at Eli Lilly as he surprisingly paid to have a stand named after himself and also presented himself with a picture of the ground recently at a home game. The news came as a shock to the rest of the squad but Hayes didn’t care. “I knew they’d have a moan, but i’ve been scoring & creating goals for 2 years now. Thats 24 months of my service – 104 weeks like. So i think it’s well deserved. Before I arrived there was no talk of promotion, no talk of nothing. Now look at us, soaring into the saxone quarter final. Fair play to me.”

Hayes has been causing rumblings in the dressing room of late and this is bound to cause further friction, stick around for more….

Weekly Lotto

The Original Courcey Lotto is to return. De Courcey Albion F.C. has decided to bring back its fundraising Lotto, to assist in the funding of future club developments mainly which will see the club move back to a permanent home in the parish. We currently play our home games in Eli Lilly in Dunderrow and while Lilly has been good to us in the past, it’s not home.

The Community pitch in Ballinadee is the most likely venue for which Albion would like to call home again however the pitch requires extensive drainage work which is likely to cost tens of thousands in order to be playable throughout the winter months.

This drainage work would not only benefit De Courcey Albion but also the community as a whole.

This initiative is intended to help to fund these developments while also giving us all the opportunity to win some cash. The guaranteed weekly jackpot will be a minimum of €500 and will increase weekly incrementally by €200.

We see ourselves at De Courcey Albion as a progressive club, so this lotto will be a paperless lotto and done 100% online.

Another benefit of this is that you only need to play once and can enter each draw for a year.

If your reading this then you have internet access but if you don’t you will still be able to get tickets, the ways and means of doing so will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Lotto will be launched in a few weeks time but for now you can register your details here and you will receive an email when the tickets become available.

Join the fun! Online Purchase.

MINIMUM ENTRY is €20, which enters you in 10 draws.
MAXIMUM ENTRY is €100, which enters you in 50 + 2 free draws.

When will the draws take place?

The draw will take place on Friday evenings at 8pm.

How will I know if I’ve won?

You will receive notification from De Courcey Albion F.C. of draw results and news by email on a weekly basis. Results will also be posted on the clubs website www.decourceyalbion.com. Your winnings will be posted out to you within the week.

A full list of the rules is available from the club for all players to view at any time.

Best of luck to all who enter,
Kevin O’Neill

Hurley Returns

Conor Hurley made a sesational return to Ballinadee yesterday after a 5 month absense from the Albion. Hurley was reported to have burst into the dressing room and handed out signed photos of himself to the rest of the squad without speaking a word.

His Albion team-mates seemed delighted with his return though not everyone was too happy. James O’Driscoll spoke to reporters after the session saying “Look at him, with his tan & bulging abs, he thinks he’s so great. What’s the deal with the sunglasses? He didnt take them off for the whole training session, if he thinks he can waltz back in here and play left full again… well f**k that”!.”

When asked about the sunglasses Hurley told reporters he was so emotional at his return and felt so sorry for James O’Driscoll that he will now once again lose his left back position that he felt it better to keep the glasses on.

I’m sure we have heard the last of this ongoing feud between the two though our article writers have informed us we haven’t. Stick around for more.

Albion 1-4 City Wanderers

Albion can put last nights 4-1 defeat at home to City Wanderers down to experience as they match the city team for 75 minutes of the game with chances to make the game their own. Wanderers opened the scoring after 2 minutes with a fortunate shot that lobbed Walsh in goal. Albion went on the offensive and within 3 minutes were level after James O’Driscoll broke forward from left full crossing for Martin El-sahen to get off the mark for the season. The game was fairly even for the rest of the half with Wanderers shading the posession though Albion almost went in front when Tim Harrington hit the bar with a lofted header from a Noel Twomey corner.

The second half was a lively encounter as Martin El-sahen beat the keeper and almost scored all for a wanderers defender who came to their rescue. The turning point came with 15 on the clock as Colm O’Donovan was deemed to have handled the ball deliberately in the box, a very shady decision by the ref. Wanderers went 2-1 up after converting the penalty, the last 10 minutes of the game saw Albion fall 4-1 behind, a scoreline which doesnt reflect the game at all.

Team: Michael Walsh, Jody MacNamara, James O’Driscoll, Colm O’Donovan, Declan Murray, JP Hayes, Noel Twomey, Conan Dillon, John Hipwell, Tim Harrington, Martin El-sahen.

Subs: Ben Dillon(’55), Rob O’Donovan(’75), Colum Walsh(’75). Kevin O’Neill, Darren Daly, Jason O’Riordan.
