Albion 0 – 1 Dunbar

De Courcey Albion went into this game with nothing to lose playing a team on form and currently lying 2nd in the league. The home team started the brighter of the two teams with John Duggan causing plently of problems for the Dunbar defence straight from the word go. Albion were threatening on the wings also with JP Hayes & Noel Twomey being assisted by Ger O’Connell & James O’Driscoll at full back. With 25 minutes gone a momentary lapse in concentration at a srappy scramble in Albions box ended with the ball crawling over the line to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage. Chances were a-plenty at the other end with the keeper stopping the ball just on the line and with John Duggan rattling the post. Colm O’Donovan also came close hitting the post from a header. 1-0 at half time though the scoreline did not tell the truth as Albion looked like the only team in the game. The 2nd half was much the same besides the opening 10 minutes where Dunbar created another chance to which Jody MacNamara pulled off a top class save. Ronan O’Driscoll then thought he had levelled the game when the found himself with just the keeper to beat but the ball somehow deflected off the keeper & hit the bar. From the resulting corner Colm O’Donovan had the ball in the back of the net but the ref called play up for some shoving in the box. Albion made a few changes & continued to press. Dunbar found themselves lucky not to concede & saw out the game with a 1-0 victory.

Albion slip to a 3rd home league defeat in a row and now look to the County Cup as their last chance at silverware this season.
