Albion 3-3 Banteer

Albion were held to a 3 all draw with Banteer last night. Although an improvement on the performance that saw them crash out of the County Cup to the same side a couple of weeks earlier they lacked the cutting edge that dispatched of Strand last week.

Banteer took the lead about 10 minutes into the game when a ball into the box found a man free who slotted it into the bottom corner.

Albion won a free kick about 4 minutes later and Tim fired another thunderbolt into the back of the net. Jason didn’t call this one!

Within another 3 minutes Albion were ahead after great play down the left flank the ball was played into the box were it found Conan Dillon on the 6 yard line who with a delightful flick from the outside of his right foot found the top corner.

Albion’s lead was to last about ten minutes when Banteer were awarded a free kick 35 yards out which was converted by their talisman to make it 2-2.

The half ended 2-2 with Banteer slightly shading it.

Albion started the second half well and came close on a number of occasions but failed to find the back of the net. Banteer had chances of their own with Steve Dwyer between the Albion sticks pulling off a few vital saves.

It was Banteer who took the lead to make it 2-3 with about 65 minutes on the clock. Albion pressed on for an equaliser an Conan looked like he had got it when he shoot past the keeper only to see his shot cleared off the line.

Tim also came close when he chipped the keeper only to watch his effort come back off the crossbar. While Albion pushed on Banteer were also dangerous on the counter.

With about 5 minutes remaining Albion were awarded a penalty for a hand ball in the box. Tim stepped up and fired the spot kick into the back of the net, 3-3.

Albion went in search of a winner but in the end ran out of time with the game finishing 3-3.

Despite the draw Albion are not out of the race for the title following Rylanes defeat at home to Strand. If Albion win their four remaining games they will collect the title however that will not be an easy task as they have to travel away to the top two in the last two games plus are also away to current forth placed team Blackpool before that.

Next up is the final home game of the season this Sunday when Albion take on Newmarket.
