Albion 3-4 Strand Utd

Albion came away with nothing after losing to Strand in the final minutes for the second time this season. Albion dominated the game from start to finish with Stand not looking creative or creating any thing clear cut to worry the home side. Tim Harrington gave Albion the lead with a deflected shot 18 mins in. The turning point of the half came when Declan Murray had to receive attention to a gashed head. Albion switched off after the 5 minute gap in play and conceded for a free kick and then a throw in. 2-1 to Strand at half time. Within 15 mins of the restart Albion were 3-2 up when Tim Harrington had to compete with a 7 man wall but as he kicked they all jumped to leave his low shot fly into the corner. John Duggan scored albions third after a skilfull run saw his shot scupper between the keepers legs. Strand got a third after a sloppy clearance left the striker unmarked to tap past Steve Nyhan. In the dying seconds Albion thought they had a free when the strand keeper handled the ball outside the area and theme grabbed James O’Driscoll round the neck and dragged him back. The ref let play go on and then immediately awarded Strand a very dubious free which wasn’t cleared allowing strand to strike for their 4th. A horrible way to lose the game but the se very questionable calls by the referee has once again given Strand a victory over a better Albion team.
