Albion coasted into the 2nd round of the Corinthians Cup with a 9-0 hammering of Parkview Celtic at Eli Lilly today. Albion were 1-0 within 25 seconds when Dan Galvin dinked a fantastic ball over the top which found Tim Harrington who put the hosts ahead. Harrinngton had 2 on 16 mins when a scramble between the keeper and right back found Timmy who slotted it in. He got his hat trick on 20 mins when he won a race to the ball with the Parkview keeper and kicked to make it 3-0. Mart El-sahen got in on the act when he ran the ball down the left, left himself with a tight angle and finished well. JP Hayes might have found himself unlucky not to be on the score sheets with a couple of shots(crosses) that found the cross bar. It was 5-0 when Conor Hurley scored a well taken curved kick low into the bottom right. James O’Driscoll made it 6-0 before half time with a great run from wing to centre. Half Time 6-0.
Albion picked up where they left off with a 7th goal inside 55mins with sub Darren Daly latching onto a ball from a corner and smashed it from close range to get his 1st of the season. Harrington got his 8th with a lovely pass once again from Dan Galvin, the parkview keeper came to meet it but Harrington lobbed him and watched the ball roll into an empty net. It was 9-0 when Harrington ran down the left and scored from a very tight angle. It may have been 10-0 when Dan Galvin & Harrington went 2 on 1 but the ref blew up for full time.
