Albion 1-2 Carrigtwohill

De Courcey Albion crashed out of the AOH Cup after a dissapointing performance against Division 3 table toppers Carrigtwohill. The same Carrigtwohill team who beat Albion in both league encounters the year the Courcey men were promoted. Albion looked the more dominant of the teams in the opening stages of the game though Carrigtwohill slowly started to gain more and more possession as the game went on. Albion took the lead with a wonder strike from Tim Harrington who hit 10 goals in all competitions. Facing away from the goal, he turned the defender on the edge of the box and ran towards the end line. It looked as though he had taken the ball too far but struck sweetly with his left to score from the tightest of angles. 1-0 Half Time.

The second half was a different story. Carrigtwohill stormed the Albion defence for the opening 20 and it paid off as they equalised through a header. 5 mins later their striker made it 2-1 after wrongfooting the albion defenders and rounding Steve Nyhan in goal. Albion desperately tried for an equaliser and took charge of the game in the last 10 mins but never created that finishing blow. Great performances on the day from James O’Driscoll, Declan Murray & Steve Nyhan.
