Albion 4-2 Ballincollig

De Courcey Albion secured their first win back in ballinadee yesterday with a great 4-2 win over a resistant Ballincollig side. Albion couldn’t have started any better when Tim Harrington had them 1-0 up inside a minute after good work from Ger O’Connell set them on their way. Ballincollig rarely threatened and Albion looked like the only team that was going to score for most of the half. Though Ballincollig did hit the post after some nice passing through midfield. Harrington had Albion 2-0 up when Rob Daly played him through. Daly took on 3 players on the right, laid the ball off to Harrington who struck with his first touch for a great goal. Albion were cruising at this stage but Ballincollig brought themselves back just before half time when a corner wasn’t dealt with. 2-1 half time.

Ballincollig started the second half well, using the wingers more they pressed forward striking the under side of the bar causing a goal line scramble which Michael Walsh & Declan Murray were on hand to deal with. Albion went 3-1 up once again through Harrington, who scored his 2nd hat trick against Ballincollig in 3 games. Harrington latched onto a ball close to the half way line, ran through beating the two defenders on the left and shot passed the keeper. Albion went 4-1 up through Jamie Daly after John Duggan played his through to finish with the outside of his right foot to get his 2nd of the season. Ballincollig had a man sent off after he lashed out at Daly and struck him in the face. They got a 2nd goal from a lovely passing move on the right and struck home to make it 4-2. Walsh kept Albion in the game a few times with some great saves. Albion held on for the win and took all 3 points. Great performances all round, Harrington, Duggan and O’Driscoll starred.
