Albion 1-1 Clon AFC

Albion played out a 1-1 draw in a friendly with West Cork Premier League team Clon AFC. Both teams were missing a number of players but the weather made for absolutely perfect conditions on a lovely Ballinadee pitch. Albion opened brightly with some neat control & passing going on in centre mid between Jason O’Riordan & Jonathan Quinn. Ben O’Donnell & John Duggan were looking like a serious threat for the Clon defence creating quite a few chances in the opening period. The breakthrough came from an in-swinging corner by John Duggan which found Jody MacNamaras head to make it 1-0 inside the opening 20. From here Clon found their feet and started making quick pass attacking moves and besides a shot hitting the bar never really threated the goal in the first half. 1-0 half time.

Clon came out all guns blazing in the second half forcing Michael Walsh into one or two decent saves early on. Their breakthrough came from an error at the back with a mix up between Ger O’Connell & Michael Walsh left 3 players unmarked to pick a spot in the goal to head it into. 1-1. Both teams created chances from here on it, for the home side Ben O’Donnell, Martin Ryan, John Duggan, Jamie Daly & Brian Hayes all came close. The away side looked the more threatening though Albion still held out for a 1-1 draw.
