Albions stuttering winless run continued yesterday as they were held to a 2-2 draw against relegation rivals Blackpool Celtic. Albion got off to the worst possible start as a failed cleared ball from a corner allowed the Blackpool midfielder to put the home side 1 up with only 5 minutes gone. Blackpool pushed for a second and were dominating in many areas of the pitch. Tim Harrington came close with a long range shot but other than that Albion werent creating much. Against the run of play from a throw in the ball fell at the feet of James O’Driscoll in the 6 yard box who turned and smashed home to equalize. 5 minutes later Ben Dillon played a great through ball to O’Driscoll who burst through on goal only to be taken out of it by the Blackpool keeper. Up stepped Declan Murray to slot home from the penalty spot to make it 2-1 to Albion. Though 2 minutes later it was 2-2 when Albion suffered yet another conceded goal from a set-piece. 2-2 half time. Albion came out in the second half looking like the side more likely to score. Having to deal with some ominous refereeing decisions they did well with chances falling to JP Hayes, Rob O’Donovan, Tim Harrington, Ben Dillon and Darren Daly but they couldn’t find the winner.
The draw is a helpfull point for Albion who need 4 points from the remaining 15 points available to remain in Division 2.
