Mayfield MSL 3-0 Albion

De Courcey Albion began their pre season preperations with a 3-0 defeat to Munster Senior League outfit Mayfield. Playing against a strong wind in the first half Albions defence stood firm and witheld a mountain of pressure from the free flowing north siders. Michael Walsh made a fantastic save when Colm O’Donovan sent a header directly towards the corner of his own goal. 5 minutes before that Conan Dillon was judged to have taken the Mayfield winger down in the box and Walsh once again pulled off a save to keep the score at 0-0. Albion started to come back into the game with some great work in midfield from Timmy Harrington, Conan Dillon & John Hipwell. 0-0 at half time.

Albion started the brighter of the two teams in the second half when Conan Dillon almost put the away side up after a blistering run. Harrington had the majority of shots from Albion, though 20 mins into the 2nd half Mayfield scored from what looked like a clear offside. The last 10 minutes saw Albion concede 2 scrappy goals as tiredness crept in when Mayfield made the use of their superior numbers on the bench.

A good run out and a good performance from Albion who look to tuesday evening for a home friendly with Leeview at Eli Lilly.
