De Courcey Albion showed their never say die spirit today with an outstanding display against bogey team UCC. Albion had failed to beat UCC with 3 previous seasons, but their team spirit shone through as they destroyed the students in the second half. It couldnt have been a better start when John Duggan had the ball in the net after just two minutes. Ger O’Connell played the ball to Declan Murray who played back to O’Connell, O’Connell then sent JP Hayes on his way to pass through to John Duggan who finished superbly. Albion stayed on top with great work from John Hipwell and Conan Dillon. James O’Drsicoll made it 2-0 when Noel Twomey swung in a cross, O’Driscoll had a simple headed tap in. Half time 2-0.
Albion refused to sit back on the lead and pressed for more. It paid off when Duggan added his second after rounding the keeper. John Hipwell setup JP Hayes for a headed goal 2 minutes later to extend the advantage to 4. Then Jason O’Riordan added one of his own to take his tally to 3 for the season. A great display all round and the win keeps the pressure on Leeside and Cork Road Celtic above them and Boscos and Parkview below.
