Albion suffered a blow to their title challenge when 2 own goals in a mad 10 minutes saw them concede 3 goals and 3-0 down after 20 mins. Carrigtwohill never really threatened but left it to Albion to self destruct. Carrigs first goal was a stroke of luck when a hit & hope shot saw the ball lob stand in keeper Declan Murray. The 2nd came 5 minutes later when from a corner the ball deflected off Shane Horan into the goal. The 3rd came when the ball deflected in off Colum Walsh. Half time 3-0.
Albion started the 2nd half stunned to be 3-0 down, the most amount of goals they conceded in the league all season. 10 mins into the 2nd half John Duggan reduced the defecit with a lovely toe poke past the keeper. Albion piled the pressure on and created chances from here on in. Carrig were down to 10 men after a ridiculous foul when the player was already on a yellow. With 5 mins to go John Duggan scored from a free kick to make it 3-2 but it wasn’t enough as Carrigs defence stood firm.
A lack lustre 1st half performance may have put a slight dent on Albions promotion hope, but they go into a massive game this tuesday and next sunday looking to turn their fortune around.
