De Courcey Albion today recorded a 4-0 victory over Killeady rivals Afton Villa in week 3 of the Cork AUL Div 3. Albion started well with some good passing moments through midfield feeding strikers Conan Dillon & John Hipwell who were giving the Villa defence hassle. On 20 mins after a long ball through the centre,a mix up between keeper & defenders gifted Jason O’Riordan with a slight headed tap in to put the home-side in the lead. Afton Villa then upped their game for the last 15 mins of the half to test Albions defence who stood firm. Half time 1-0.
Villa came out in the 2nd half with all guns blazing, attacking from every play & looking the more dangerous of the teams until on 60 minutes winger Rob Daly broke free from a counter attack and finished the ball to perfection to double the lead. From here on De Courcey looked to be the only team in it and made it 3-0 on 75mins when Jason O’Riordan played in John Hipwell who got his 3rd goal in 3 games with a nice left footed finish past the keeper. Conan Dillon was creating alot of chances on the right and almost scored himself on 2 occasions from the right. Albion wrapped the game up again with a counter attack from Rob Daly who finished well for his 2nd of the game & 3rd in 2 games.
Albion will look to Tuesday evening in Ballyadam Park for their game against Carrigtwohill at 6.45pm.
