De Courcey Albion started their pre-season tour of Dunderrow todaywith a 2-1 defeat to Division 2 outfit Cresent Athletic
Cresent started the better of the teams and created quite a few chances. It was a new look Albion side with some fresh faces and lacking slightly in game time eperience. Within 15 mins Cresent went 1-0 up with a superb strike that ended up in the top right. Albion were hanging on to the game all the same with great defending from Dave Butler & top notch keeping from Michael Walsh. On 35 mins Seamus O’Callaghan brought memories of Afton Villa from last season back when he skipped passed the oposition players and struck the ball from 25 yards to lob the keeper and bring Albion back to 1-1. 2 minutes later Albion conceded a penalty after a hand ball in the area. Michael Walsh was up to the task and made a great save to keep his team in it. Half Time 1-1.
The 2nd half couldn’t have started any worse as Ger O’Connell went off injured. The fact that there was no subs didnt help and Albion went down to 10 men. 10 minutes later they were down to 9 men when Jamie Daly had to also go off. For 30 mins in the second half the team held out until another penalty was conceded but this time converted. 2-1 to Cresent but a good turn around for Albion as the last time they played this team they lost 6-1, 3 months ago.
