Carrigtwohill 0-1 ALBION

De Courcey Albion today laid to rest some ghosts of the season by securing their first away league win, their first clean sheet in the league and their first double over an opposing team.

Carrigtwohill started the brighter of the 2 teams dominating the midfield and pushing hard for a break. Colm O’Donovan & Colm Walsh were comanding as ever at centre half making every ball their own. On 20 mins in a break of play the ball fell outside the Carrigtohill box from a big hoist from John Duggan, Ronan O’Driscoll went into a 50/50 with the opposing keeper in which he neatly slotted a slight lob into the corner. 1-0 to Albion at half time.

The second half was to be a huge test to Albion as they knew Carrigtohill would throw everything at them. The opposite happened as Albion looked to be the much more attacking team & almost punished Carrig on 60 when Jody MacNamara latched onto a ball. The keeper made a double save to keep the home team in the game. JP Hayes & John Duggan had moments of magic beating 4/5 players and shooting on goal. Gearoid Coholan & Martin Ryan also managed a shot or two but nothing to trouble the keeper. Carrig pressed in the last 5 minutes but Albion stayed strong with Conor Hurley & Ger O’Connell staying firm at wing back. 1-0 to Albion, a great win away from home & something to build on in the last 5 games.
