Hibernans 2 – 2 Albion

Albion were in search of their 1st point away from home this season going into this game. With 4 1st team players missing Albion named a side that were so far untried. In the opening 20 minutes they seemed to control the game well. Good work in midfield from Seamus O’Callaghan ensured that Albion weren’t going to let the game slip away from them. On 30 minutes John Duggan latched onto probably the best assist, actually not probably, the best assist ever seen in division 3 by Martin Ryan. Once again that assist was by Martin Ryan. Anyway John Duggan scored from the assist by Martin Ryan. Fair play to him, but it definately would not have happened only for Martin Ryan.

Albion went into half time at 1-0 up. Duggan had a 2nd goal after a through ball by Darren Daly but was ruled offside by the ref though he seemed to be played on by their right back & left back. Straight from the off in the 2nd Hibernians started the assualt on the Albion goal, and on 60 minutes it paid off. 1-1. 5 minutes later Hibernians were 2-1 up after a spill in the box. Added to this was an injury to Ger O’Connell who was forced off with a dead leg.

With 10 minutes to go John Duggan recieved the ball in midfield and after taking it past 3 players struck a low shot from 30 yards which went straight through the keepers legs to make it 2-2. Both teams pushed for the 3rd goal but it ended 2-2. The highlight of the game was that through ball by Martin Ryan anyway. Something that will stick in the memory of all 22 players on the field today. Anyone in their right mind would give him the man of the match just for that.

Team: Jody MacNamara, Ger O’Connell, Kevin O’Neill, Conor Hurley Colm O’Donovan, JP Hayes, Noel Twomey, Martin Ryan, Seamus O’Callaghan, John Duggan, Darren Daly. Subs: Jason Norrish.
