MACROOM 1-1 ALBION (Macroom win 4-3 on penalties)

For the 2nd week in a row Albion were facing a team who going into the game lay top of their division and were also unbeaten. From the off Macroom went on the attack playing into a very strong wind. Albions defence held strong and on 25minutes against the run of play John Duggan put pressure on the Macroom keeper forcing him to spill the ball and fall straight to Noel Twomey who cooly slotted the ball home. 1-0 to Albion going into the break. In the 2nd half Albion went on top with their defence resilliantly holding on. Maroom were lucky to hold onto their 11 men with Noel Twomey recieving a kick on the head, Michael Walsh recieving a punch to the head and Macrooms last man taking John Duggan out of it when he had only the keeper to beat. All the macroom players in question recieved just a yellow card. With about 10 minutes to go Macroom found the break through with a neatly slotted goal. 1-1 at full time and at the end of extra time. Macroom went on to win the shoot-out 4-3 in an evenly contested cup game.
