Cloughduv Cel 1-2 Albion

Albion soaked up a lot of first half pressure to win the opening game of the 2014/2015 season in Cloughduv. Cloughduv looked impressive in most areas from the off, with a large crowd in attendance to see their team play their first game after switching from West Cork Premier League to the AUL. Early warning signs didn’t seem to register with Albion as the home team struck the bar and created an abundance of chances. Albion took the lead completely against the run of play when a strike from Tim deflected and lobbed the keeper. 15 mins later Cloughduvs pressure paid off when their left winger broke free and crossed for their front man to head in off Walshys unlucky attempted save. Walshy pulled off one or two saves to keep his team 1-1 at half time.

The second half was a lot brighter for Albion as Darren Daly, playing his first game in centre mid, was working hard with Conan Dillon at feeding the wingers. Albion got their winner 20 mins in to the second half when sub Jamie Dalys throw found Conan who crossed on a half volley to be met by Noel Twomeys one touch assist to Tim Harringtons one touch pass into the net. A huge effort in defence from Troy, James, Dec and Colm was proving too much for Cloughduv as they ran out of ideas and were finding it harder to break down Albions 5 across the middle. A great away win from the Albion to take all 3 points against a very tough Cloughduv Celtic.

team. Walshy, Troy, James, Colm, Ðec, Noel, David (Jamie ’45), Martin R, Conan, Darren (Ben ’75), Timmy. Sub. Dan C.
