Albion suffered their heaviest defeat of the season against premier outfit Blarney St Athletic over the weekend at the GACA Grounds in Brooklodge. As extreme underdogs going into the game, Albion were quietly confident of causing some what of an upset. Up to the 40th minute they somewhat held their ground, though had gone 1-0 behind inside the opening 2 minutes from Blarney Streets first attack. Steve Dwyer & Ger O’Connell were holding in centre mid allowing Conan Dillon to roam, though Blarney Streets midfield were bossing play from start to finish. On 40′ they were 2-0 up with a low driven strike.

5 minutes into the 2nd half it was 3-0 when a parried shot found its way to their winger who grabbed his second with a fantastic half volley. Their 4th & 5th followed quickly and it looked as if they were going to add more. In saying this, Albion did have their chances. JP Hayes came close in the first half only for a last ditch tackle. Rob Daly also came close after a great through ball from Noel Twomey. Conor Hurley came close after coming on though was deemed offside. Albions break did come though as Noel Twomeys pass forward deflected high and landed to Aaron O’Sullivans feet, the Blarney St defenders didn’t play to the whistle as they were calling offside, Aaron was clearly onside and finished low & left passed the on-coming keeper. O’Sullivan caused problems a few minutes later as he ran onto a 50/50 with their keeper. O’Sullivan headed it passed the keeper and the keeper clashed into him, a clear penalty. Though the ref gave a hop ball as he was sure the keeper got a touch. The street scored their 6th with the last kick of the game.

A disappointing day at the office for Albion who had not played a game since the end of November. Positive performances from Declan Murray, Conan Dillon & Jamie Daly will boost the team going into next sundays league clash with Blackpool Celtic.
