Albion 5-0 Carrigaline Utd

Albion beat Carrigaline 5-0 in the AOH Cup Rd 2 today in Ballinadee. A sloppy opening 20 minutes from the home side was soon put to bed when Colm O’Donovan opened the scoring. Captain fantastic controlled a loose ball from a corner and curled the ball passed the keeper and defender to net his first goal in 4 years. An injury to Ger O’Connell forced a substitution with Jody Mac coming on to hold at centre half. Tim Harrington soon got on the score sheet when JP Hayes played him through. 2-0 half time.

Albion moved up 3 gears in the second half and totally dominated the game all over the park. The Daly brothers both putting in a great shift at left & right full made things easier all round as the centre mids & wingers had another option to fall back on. Dan Gal was putting in another great effort in centre mid as was JP Hayes 7 Rob Daly on the wings. Ben Dillon got his 5th of the season when Tim Harrington burst down the left and played the ball through. Harrington got his 2nd of the game direct from a free kick that fooled the keeper. Then he got his hat trick when he lobbed the keeper from the wing. Mike Walsh ensured Albion kept a clean sheet when he saved a penalty after Colm was deemed to have fouled their striker. Rob Daly was unlucky to have had a goal disallowed after a 50/50 with the keeper where they clashed and Daly was up quickest to score. John Duggan made his first appearance since December 2012 when he came on for Ben Dillon with 20 to go. He was straight into the action taking a run and almost reaching the ball before the keeper.

A jittery 1st half turned into a great 2nd half where Albion dominated start to finish.
