Albion 3-2 Donoughmore

Albion pulled out a great first half performance and a solid second half performance to take all 3 points against Donoughmore at Ballinadee this morning. JP Hayes showed his intent right from the beginning with a dazzling run down the left leaving the full back in limbo. No one enjoyed Japs runs more than Tim seeing as he was reaping the benefits from them. Tim could have had Albion 2 up in the opening 10 mins and was on target soon after when japs played over a lovely ball. Tim rounded the keeper and made it 1-0. Albion stayed on top and created more and more chances unlucky not to go further ahead before the break. Conor Hurley made a fantastic recovery tackle after the Donoughmore striker had seemed to be on his way.

The second half couldn’t have started any better for the Albion as Dan Galvin took the ball down on his chest outside the area and laid off a hanging ball which fell to James O’Driscoll who finished with a superb volley. Donoughmore saw this as an opportunity to make 2 changes which would turn the game. The away side went on top playing high tempo ball and every decision was a quick one which was pushing Albion to the limit. Deccy Murray & Ger O’Connell were holding well though the away side were back in it after confusion between Colm O’Donovan & Mike Walsh saw the Albion striker get on the score sheet in the wrong end. Donoughmore were level after Martin Ryan handled the ball just outside the box and they scored from the resulting free. Albion started to play freely again with Rob O’Donovan and James both unlucky not to score. Albion were back in front after a break stemming from centre mid saw Tim Harrington run on and finish with his left. Albion were doing well to see the last few minutes out though Donoughmore struck the upright with the last kick of the ball to see Albion walk away with a tough worked 3pts.
