Looking to 2013 for success!

2012 was a mixed year for Albion. The close of the 2011/2012 season was dissappointing as our cups runs were all ended and our push for promotion was ended after a 2-1 away defeat against Ballincollig. A mixture of injuries to some major players, including John Hipwell, Noel Twomey & Ben Dillon were all contributing factors as our midfield had been depleted. Albion finished 5th in their first season in Division 2 in almost 10 seasons, 6 points from a promotion playoff with neighbours Ballinhassig. An AOH Cup run, which included a 7-1 hammering of old bogey team UCC, was the highlight of the season. This was to be ended in an away defeat against premier team Springfield. The final score was 4-1 though after extra time. Albion had taken the lead with 10 minutes to go only to concede in injury time.

The 2012/2013 season so far has seen alot of new faces and a brand new midfield as Conan Dillon joined Kinsales senior team & John Hipwells knee injury preventing him from playing until the 2013/2014 season. New additions this year include Jonathan Quinn, Gavin Moloney, Stephen Nyhan, Ben O’Donnell & Dan Galvin along with the returning figure of Rob Daly. The season started well with a 2-0 home win against Macroom. Since then Albion have staggered a bit in the league with too many draws & 2 horrible defeats to Strand United, both in the dying minutes all contributing to their 6th place standing going into 2013. Though over the last few games of 2012 Albions team seemed to have settled in their play and look to build going onwards.

With 9 games left in the league and 2 cups left there is still loads to play for. Heres to hoping some silverware comes back to the Albion!!
