Donoughmore Athletic 1-1 Albion (Donoughmore with 5-3 on pens)

Albion crashed out of the Saxone cup today with a spirited performance from a depleted squad. Donoughmore started the better of the two and looked in control. The first half was one of few chances through Rob Daly & Jamie Daly both came close. Donoughmore did take the lead after a scuffed clearance caused the ball to come back over the top giving Cian Walsh no hope from a close range shot. 1-0 at half time.

Conor Hurley went off at half time with a hamstring problem ton replaced by Ben O’Donnell. o’Donnell was on the field about 10 mins before scoring his first goal in a competitive game for Albion after an inch perfect long ball from Jody Mac to Rob Daly who upended the right full with some fancy footwork to send the ball through for O’Donnell to make it 1-1. Albion upped the ante though Darren Daly was soon off with a calf problem and replaced on the left wing by Kevin O’Neill. Albion started creating more chances with Jonathan Quinn & Martin El-sahen using the wingers well & rob daly causing havoc for the Donoughmore centre halves. 1-1 full time.

Pin extra time both teams pressed for the winner but none with a clear cut effort, though Albion finished the game with only 10 men when Martin El-sahen went down injured, so the game went to penalties. Donoughmore went first and converted all five, Albion converted 3 but missed one to go home with a defeat. Team. C Walsh, M Ryan, C Hurley(B O’Donnell), J MacNamara, C O’Donovan, J Daly, D Daly(K O’Neill), J O’Driscoll, J Quinn, M El-sahen, R Daly.
