Albion 4-0 Innishvilla

De Courcey Albion made it 9 goals in 2 games and kept their 3rd clean sheet in a row as they beat local rivals Innishvilla 4-0 at Eli Lilly. The reverse fixture at Knocknacurra ended in a 0-0 draw almost ending Albions title challenge last week. However Innishvilla looked more impressive this time around and dominated a scrappy first half where Albion didn’t look a patch of the team from their previous encounter. Innish came close from close range on a few occasions and used the wings quite well. Though against the run of play John Duggan was taken down in the area to give Albion a penalty, their first from open play all season, and the chance to go 1-0 up. Duggan stepped up and got lucky as the keeper guessed the right way but the ball hit the post and rebounded off the keepers back and rolled into the net. 1-0 half time.

Albion upped their effort 100% in the second half and started playing some great passing all over the park. John Hipwell was having another fantastic game for the Albion and he was rewarded on 55mins as from the edge of the area he volleyed with his left into the corner to double the advantage. A high possibility for goal of the season. 5 minutes later Hipwell got his 8th of the season when he burst though the defence and hit the ball with the outside of his right to fling past the keeper and make it 3-0. Another great goal from the midfielder who has been growing in confidence all season. Jody Mac replaced the injured Conor Hurley with 20 minutes to go. Albion recieved a free kick from 25 yards on the right of the goal. Up stepped John Duggan who placed an inch perfect free in the top left of the goal to bang in his 16th of the season. Albion never looked like conceding and Michael Walsh had very little to do between the sticks.

Albion go into the last game of the season away to table topper Cork Road Celtic on Sat 30th April, but will be hoping results go their way this weekend to keep themselves in with a chance of promotion.
