Innishvilla 0-0 Albion

De Courcey Albion slumped to a 0-0 draw last night after dominating the game from start to finish. The first half was one of few chances though James O’Driscoll made the villa keeper pull off an outstanding save. John Duggan & Noel Twomey both came close also. JP Hayes was working wonders on the right and looked like the danger man for Albion for large spells of the first half. Padraig Harrington, making his season debut between the sticks, had little to do in the first half with the back four staying solid. Half Time 0-0.

Albion stepped up a gear in the second half with some great passing possession. John Duggan & John Hipwell both had chances to give Albion the lead but failed to find the net. Innishvilla created just 2 chances in the second half. One made Albions hero keeper of the ’99 cup final win, Harrington, pull off a great stop. The other ended with the ball in the net but they had 2 players 5 yards offside. Conan Dillon had Albions best chance to score when 1 on 1 with the keeper shot straight down the centre which the keeper saved. Declan Murray & John Duggan both rattled the post & right at the death James O’Driscoll saw a shot from 4 yards go wide of the post.

Albion will be looking to end their barren run in the league at the moment from which they have picked up 2 points from a possible 9, a run that may see their league title & promotion hopes disappearing. They must wait on other results around them now with hope of scores going their way.

Albion play UCC this sunday at Eli Lilly at 10.45am.
