UCC 1-1 Albion

Albion will be thinking 2 points dropped yesterday after a very one sided affair ended in both teams taking the spoils. Albion started on top and stayed that way for the next 90 minutes. Rob Daly & John Hipwell both had shots on target in the opening 5 minutes and looked threatening with some good through balls from Shane Horan & Conan Dillon. Albion suffered a blow on 20 mins as James O’Driscolls persistent hamstring problem rared its ugly head again as he had to go off early. Martin Ryan replaced him but Albion still remained on top. Daly & Ryan then had shots at goal after this as did Conan Dillon & JP Hayes. 0-0 half time.

The second half became even more one sided until UCC got a corner and swung a tight cross in, which Michael Walsh spilled to allow the UCC man to hit the ball over the line. A rare error and totally against the run of play. Almost immediatly Albion replied. Declan Murray recieved a ball in his own half and ran through the centre, taking the ball past a few players on his way. He played the prefect through ball to Martin Ryan who took one touch on his right foot and blasted the ball with his left to put the score back to 1-1. From here on in the game was played in the UCC half. In the final 10 minutes Albion had 6/7 corners and free kicks with Shane Horan, Declan Murray, Colm O’Donovan, Colum Walsh, Rob Daly, John Hipwell and COnor Hurley all coming close. Martin Ryan managed to strike the post with a right footed shot to add insult to injury for the away team.
