ALBION 2-2 St. John Boscos

Albion threw away a 2 goal lead yesterday in a disappointing encounter against St. John Boscos of Midleton. Boscos settled into the game quicker than the home side and almost took the lead in the opening minutes after a goal line scramble. Albion looked a little unsettled at times in the opening 20 minutes but then quickly got themselves into the game after John Duggan played the ball into Rob Daly to make it 1-0 to the home side. 10 minutes later and Albion were 2-0 up, this time Conan Dillon turned provider after some fantastic play through midfield which left Rob Daly with  a great finish to double his tally & Albions. 2-0 at half time. Duggan almost made it 3-0 after an effort from the half way line struck the post. He could have been on the score sheet once again after a blistering run & then a strike came off the inside right post. 2-0 at half time.

Albion were looking even stronger after the break, though Boscos were first to attack when they themselves struck the post in the opening minutes of the half. Rob Daly almost completed his first Albion hat trick on 4 occassions through the second half, twice hitting the post and twice having the Boscos keeper make outstanding saves. James O’Driscoll also came close for Albion as did Colm O’Donovan from a corner. With 10 minutes remaining Boscos recieved a very dubious & soft penalty after their player went down quite easily in the area. They converted to make it 2-1. Albion were now defending in numbers as Boscos looked for an equaliser. 1 minute into injury time Boscos got a corner, the ball was crossed in & went in off Ger O’Connells head to make it 2-2.

A very disappointing day for Albion, who are lucky to see all other results go their way in the league.
