St. John Boscos 1-1 ALBION

Albion held their own this evening away from home at Water Rock Park to take a share of the points in a tough encounter. Boscos started out the more impressive with neat play that cut Albions defence in the opening 5 minutes with their striker finding himself with nothing to do but beat Michael Walsh between the Albion sticks. Walsh made a superb save to keep the away side in it & keep the scores at 0-0. Albion came back into the game little by little as the half wore on and had bout 5/6 shots on target in the closing minutes of the half though all directed at the keeper who easily held them at bay. Conan Dillon was Albions danger man in the first half creating chance after chance down the right & John Hipwell worked extremely hard up front with Jody MacNamara.

The second half started well for Albion who went on top for large periods and started using the wings well with some great support from the full backs. With 12 mins left on the clock Boscos got a free kick fa on the right which was hoisted high and long goal bound, the ball came back across the line and midfielder Eoin O’Brien found the net with an empty goal to tap it into. 1-0 to St. Johns. Albion piled the pressure on at this stage with Seamus O’Callagan moving up between midfield and the strikers. With 2 mins left John Hipwell latched onto an incoming ball and controlled it with his chest holding off the defender turned the ball goalside, spotted he kepper off his line and finished the ball superbly with a perfectly crafted lob. The full time whistle went as the 2 teams went home with a point each.
