ALBION 2-1 Brooklodge Utd

De Courcey Albion stunned league leaders Brooklodge UTD today their last home game of the season with a 2-1 win. Both team had even shares in the opening half with John Duggan & JP Hayes working hard on the wings & Jason O’Riordan holding down midfield with David Butler. Albion had few chances in the 1st half with the more noticable one coming from striker Noel Twomey who forced a fine save, JP Hayes tried latching onto it and was unlucky not to score. 0-0 at half time. 5 minutes into the second half John Duggan recieved the ball inside his own half & ran to beat 4/5 Brooklodge players and slotted the ball in the bottom corner. An excellent run & great finish for Albions top scorer who took his season tally to 10. 2 minutes later keeper Michael Walsh hoisted a big kick out forward which Noel Twomey contested & ran into a 50/50 with the Brooklodge keeper, the ball spilled out to Martin Ryan who blasted the ball in to make it 2-0 to the home side. From here on Albion defended in numbers switching to a 4-5-1. Conor Hurley & James O’Driscoll resisted any opposing runs and Colm Walsh & Colm O’Donovan cleaned up any loose balls and defended perfectly. With 20 minutes to go Brooklodge got a free on the edge of the area which was deflected in to make it 2-1. Kevin O’Neill then replaced Martin Ryan & Albion were throwing everything behind the ball. They held out for a great win that takes their points tally into the 20’s & record their most amount of league wins in a season with almost 7 seasons.
