ALBION 4-3 GREENWOOD

De Courcey Albion continued their form from the past 4 games today with an impressive 4-3 vicotory over a stubborn Greenwood side. The opening 10 minutes couldn’t have gone any worse as they found themselves 2-0 down. But refusing to give up, Albion pulled a goal back through great midfield work from Jason O’Riordan who crossed the ball straight to the feet of John Duggan who slotted the ball home. Within 5 minutes Albion found themselves 3-1 down after a momentary lapse in concentration. 5 minutes from half time James O’Driscoll recieved the ball in his own half, with a huge urst of energy he beat 4 players on a stunning 40 yard run and cooly slotted the ball into the goal – taking a deflection on the way in. 2-3 at half time.

From the word go in the 2nd half Albion took complete control of the game in all areas. Jason O’Riordan & James O’Driscoll took charge in midfield and Seamus O’Callaghan at centre half found himself winning everything. John Duggan looked like he was going to score evey time he got the ball at on 55 mins he drew the game level after a great run. That was his 4th goal in 2 games, bringing his total for the season to 7. Albion continued to press and always looked the more dangerous of the 2 teams. With 10 minutes left Albion won a corner from some great work from Noel Twomey on the left. Twomey took the corner and after an initial scramble the ball fell to Seamus O’Callaghan who slotted the ball home. Greenwood started piling the pressure on but the defence of Ger O’Connell, Colm Walsh, Seamus O’Callaghan & Conor Hurley dealt with it in every way possible. 4-3 at full time and a great 2nd half performace sees Albion climb a couple of positions in the league and lay their early season form to rest.
